Music Vocal

Chorus is a yearlong elective offered to students with special abilities and interest in choral music. The class provides students with experiences not readily available in the regular classroom. Students are expected to perform for Ochoa's Winter and Spring Concerts, as well as other music events such as District Honor Chorus Festival, CMEA Choral Festival, attend study trips as well as choral exchanges with other schools in Hayward and schools from other districts.

Ochoa offers two Concert Choir classes that meet daily from 8:24 - 9:21 A.M. and 9:25 - 10:25 A.M. Classes are devoted to learning concert repertoire, as well as sightreading, ear training, harmony, choral techniques and the basic elements and rudiments of music.

Ochoa also offers a Show Choir that meets after school three times a week for an hour and a half. Membership in the group is by invitation and audition only. The group focuses primarily on choregraphed song and dance, and performs for the Winter and Spring Concert, participates in the Music In The Parks Festival at Great America, as well as various distict functions.
